  Panorama is a "Musical" competition held annually in many regions  where pan has been adopted. This musical event was popularized by Trinidad and Tobago-though in Antigua Panorama started in the late fifties in Trinidad 1963-The notion that Musicians in Antiguan are incapable of judging Panorama,is ludicrous, that rules out musical giants Like Roland Prince, Dr Roberts and others. The irony, except for one, the arranges here are not musicians, have no musical training, yet there arrangement of a  popular song  cannot be judged by a qualified musician, many of whom have written musical scores....wow ...wow

The Steelpan is a musical instrument and must  be given the recognition and acceptance that given to all other conventional musical instrument. Believe it or not, there are many individuals within the Steelpan fraternity [Caribbean] who because of "mental bondage", continue to view the steelpan as inferior to other conventional musical instruments. Pannists in other parts of the world  have come to know and have valued the steelpan on par with other conventional musical instruments. Hence, they are now reaping the economic benefits, while  we in the Caribbean continue to wonder where pan going. Wake up my people!!!!

Well said my Brother, However, as per when Steen Band competition began in Antigua, it was in 1949. The venue was the Antigua Girls School which was located on East Street [presently Independence Avenue]. Three steelbands competed. Hells Gate, Brute Force and Red Army. The test piece was "Peanut Vendor". Hells Gate won the competition, wtih Brute Force and Red Army placing second and third respectively. The competition was sponsored by Governor Baldwin Earl of Bwedley who was at that time, Governor of the Leeward Islands [British Colonies].

B.S, The world is in a new time, leave the old ideas in the past. Once people are QUALIFIED in musicology, they are qualified to judge any musical piece in any competition. Sometimes we keep ourselves back by been too Backward.
