INDEPENDENCE TIME...
This Independence Pan Buzz was filled with a bit of nostalgia. You see, I love my country, not my ex-wife. However I don’t like how it is descending into mayhem, so spending Independence away from my native land was indeed sad.
Every Independence, I like nothing better than to go dong (my word), melt in the crowd, buss dong a bad pelau, burp, and listen to sweet Pan music at the Woodbrook Playboyz Pan Theatre. This year I missed the shebang. Every year these Independence Day brunches are growing in popularity. The one put on by Starlift is a blast.
However word is meeting me that Carwash, who regaled us with Alien Steelband this year, has jumped the gun like Usain Bolt at the World Games. Carwash, who shot to fame with Me And My Lady a couple years ago, has kept up the momentum with brilliant compositions. So too, is the Comeback Kid out of Baltimore, Dexter Keane, who is also kicking up dust with Roll Call. Dexter is keen to follow up on this year’s Zhess which raised eyebrows, and my spies tell me he is coming with a cracker of a song.
This brings us to Jason “Peanut” Isaac out of Brooklyn, USA, who is winding up operations in Leston Paul’s Sunset Studio. Jason is working with singer Natalie Yorke and lyrical master Anthony “Lexo” Alexis who has told Len “Boogsie” Sharpe – “Take a hike!” Both men blazed a trail with a six-year collaboration of great music, until they fell out, and fell in, and now out - over money. It will be quite appropriate to call “Lexo” the Fall Guy. Both Jason and “Lexo” are keeping all cards close to their chicken chest.

BREAKING NEWS
Fresh on the heels of the Baltimore Comic Con, where he was a stellar attraction, Jason “Peanut” Isaac (pictured) has landed a six-day tour with the Italian outfit La Compagnia de’ Colombari (a musical) which will be putting on some performances in New York. The super panist is hard at work, and told THE BUZZ: “I will be looking to give a great show. Colombari will first open on Broadway, just after Labour Day.” It is not known whether Jason will be tied to this group in future. He said: “We will be taking [it] one step at a time.”

SEND IN YOUR TOP TEN PAN SONGS
Nominations are opened for the Third Edition of the PAN BUZZ Awards, which will close on November 30, 2011. Readers of the PAN BUZZ are asked to send in their nominees for the various categories:
- Pan Song of the Year
- Top TEN Pan Songs
- Arranger of the Year
- Organisation of the Year
- The Allan Gervais Pan Heroes Awards
Send nominations to Keithos_6@hotmail.com
A panel of five judges will sit on the submissions (don’t take this literally), after which they will decide. The judges’ decision is FINAL and no correspondence, fussing, fighting, cussing and bottle-pelting will be entertained by the Pan Buzz.
Judges looking after the most contentious category - the ‘Pan Songs,’ will wear safety helmets this year, after their deliberations. There are some 56 songs to listen to. They will be locked in a room with gallons of coffee. The results will be announced on Friday December 9, 2011.
Now hear this, Pan Buzz money small, so nothing will be given to awardees as yet. However a small token will be given in the coming years, hopefully. Bless. All that could be offered now is global mention.
Next week, an EXCLUSIVE interview with the Happy man, David “Happy” Williams on: Why I Quit the Pan Song arena. Don’t miss this controversial story.
