Is Panorama predictable?

After viewing the 10 bands from 2011 finals I don't see much change for 2012 with the exception of Renegades. What do you think?

In 2011 CAL Invaders steel Orchestra was the only band to get a Standing ovation from both stands, yet they lost by 5 points. There will always be a certain amount of sentiment by judges, they will also have their preferences, it is a human element. Worst yet we have the same judges every year. In the minds of these individuals, bands are pre judged.

Panorama is not totally predictable. Although for many years the bands that played the best tune comes in either first or second  when the results are given or the first [4[ top Bands always win Panorama. But then again they are the best Bands with the best arrangers. Very provocative??????????????????

Panorama finals is not predictable as far as the results. What was predictable was the "Fab Five" making the finals.

From 1993 through 2009 All Stars, Desperadoes, Exodus, Phase II and Renegades were there 17 consecutive times, and

have made the finals together 24 times from 1982 to 2009. Let's see if the trend will continue after a 2-year lapse. (lol)

I will also like the Music Festival to be realized again. Although a Steel Orchestra can now collect 1,000,000 for first prize, or as much as 400,000 for the last place is good and bad.  But, that is for another discussion.

To an extent, but here are my reasons why:

1. Its a competition, and the objective is not necessarily to innovate, but to WIN
2. There is a set of very strict criteria which dictates what arrangers will try and will not try to do
3. Some bands have created legacies for themselves that are very hard to break out of without upsetting their fan base e.g. imagine All Stars playing slow and laid back a la Ray Holman, or Despers playing at the frenetic pace of Silver Stars

Panorama is very predictable, I can tell you right now...without hearing a single note, which band is going to win or at the very least, place in the top three. I won't mention the band, but I feel most people already know deep down.

On a side, after listening to the Large Bands, do you agree with the judges results?

I believe last year the results for large band weren't right...I don't see all stars winning and despers deserved a higher placing

yea, Panorama is predictable, that is why I like Steel band music festival instead of Panorama
