Happy New year to all....I hope the composers of songs designated as 'pan songs' are looking closely at the selections by the large steel orchestras in particular. We are in a new era, one that looks familiar to a previous one, where the public can once again relate to the music that bands are playing, since they will know the selections. Looking forward to an entertaining Panorama 2018
That was my main case people would like to have music that the public can relate to and we may see an increase in other people coming out
London hope you not living in a bubble, did you read the Trinidad newspapers lately? You will jump like a wild pig if someone tell you how many people get killed for the year, and it's not near the end on the month.
Patrick: Yuh just TRUMP MEH, boy!!! I thought I was the ONLY MAN keeping score!!! Ah have to watch you with some new glasses now, man!!!
FIFTEEN DAYS TO GO!!!
Allyuh know that DUVONE can't come NO HIGHER than third -- so why allyuh getting SO EXCITED?
So you saying he will never stand a chance of coming first ever in trinidad, You my friend have an issue with him as a person any arranger can come first or last I give everyone a fair chance, or are you just saying that because he isnt picking a song that you would like.
The politics of pan have All Stars and Phase 11 as 1 or 2 any order, so it stands to reason that third (3rd) is first (1st).
Mercer: Yuh real good, boy!!! THIRD is FIRST!!! One time ah was looking at the OLYMPICS and ah fellah sneak out a THIRD PLACE behind Michael Phelps -- yuh would swear the FELLAH WIN THE GOLD ... while Phelps was as cool as ever.
But, seriously, Mr. London!!! Now that you see what ALL STARS and STARLIFT and SUPERNOVAS are playing -- ah might have to move RENEGADES down to FOURTH. Because that weak attempt at R&B or whatever it is will sound like a FUNERAL PROCESSION on PANORAMA NIGHT when the bands mentioned above let loose with some real HARD CORE CALYPSO.
And it still have more REAL COMPETITION to add!!!
What you all fail to realize is the arranger could lay down some sweet melodic lines with harmonies to blow your mind, but it all comes down to execution on the night. For the last 4 years Renegades have lost their way with the younger players pounding the pan and not playing them. The drill-master needs to be on point like the days or Dr. Jit. When all you can hear is tenor and nothing else then they are lost in the wilderness of pan.
I called the correct Win for All Stars and the top 5 bands last year and will do in the near future again.
I never said de man will win, but in life anything is possible look at bogsie from last year but we all know he will be out for full vengeance this year. I would never say a man wont win in anything.
But for real ardin been doing some real good music look where he been getting
