  • @Bertel you should have known all the answers, because they are all in "400 Q&A on Pan 1960 to Present"

The first to suffer that fate was {1} Desperadoes in 1971. Remember their rhythm section failed. After that fiasco, Rudolph Charles was always close to the rhythm section. He also began walking with a Hammer.          {2} All Stars 1974 {3} Harmonites 1975

Desperadoes is the first Steel Orchestra to win Panorama the year after not qualifying for the finals. They were thrown out from the prelims in 1975, but won in 1976. The other band is Nutones in 1998.

And you know that Clive Bradley arranged both winning tunes.

  • 1974 Champs Solo Harmonites also did not make the final in 1975 when the played Lord Kitchener's No Streakers.

  • All Stars in 74 definitely, but the same would have happened to Renegades in 83 were it not for the rule implemented by then, that the defending champ automatically qualifies for the finals the following year. This rule has since been scrapped.

  • Earl, Like is only me like to answer your questions or what? The1973 Champs Trinidad All Stars did not make it to the finals in 1974. Also 1974 Champs Solo Harmonites did not make it to the finals in 1975. It is possible this happened other times as well although I cant remember right now.
