  • As a young kid my late uncles, franco and francis wickham would set me down by the breadfruit tree area. There i would enhance the wonderful music of the shell invaders,by any means necessary. INVADERS 4EVER.

  • Well Paddy, I have some sad news for you my boi! The Breadfruit Tree in Invaders Yard is no longer there. It was cut down a couple years ago, and even the Breadfruit Tree in Silverstars Panyard was cut down last year. So much for the Panyards with Breadfruit Trees!

  • THANK YOU SOMEBODY. THIS IS THE IMAGE I HAVE IN MY HEAD SINCE 1948 AS A LITTLE BOY ON A VISIT TO T&T. My aunt holding my hand walking up to POS on the far side of the street and I heard the pounding (hammer on metal) and am looking and looking. She  (Tantie Rosa)  finally explained ITS A STEELBAND YARD. Thats the FIRST time I heard the word steelband. Didnt even know what it meant. Since then I have referred to the birthplace of pan as the yard with the BREADFRUIT TREE (INVADERS YARD) and still make visits to Invaders and I even solicited my friends, Panmen, even 1 West Indian head of state and his sister) Ambassadors, (the former US Ambassador) and a POS Mayor, and lots of others in a campaign to stop/cancel the sale of INVADERS panyard several years ago.The Minister of Culture then was Ms Williams.  The campaign was  apparently successful..  paddy corea

  • Always the sweetest breadfruit because the tree was next to the latrine.
